History The Rossland Secondary School
was officially opened in June, 1951. It was originally built to accommodate
an increasing student enrollment and to allow the former high school of
Cook Avenue to be converted to an elementary school.
We are proud of our school, our staff and, in particular, our student
body. The name Rossland Secondary School is well known, not only in the
Kootenay’s, but also throughout the province because of the academic
excellence and athletic achievement of Rossland Secondary School students.
In 2001 RSS became a grade 6-12 school.
In 2003 Maclean's magazine voted RSS as one of the top 3 overall schools in Canada.
In 2005 we started the Sport Academy Program which now inludes alpine skiing, free skiing, snowboarding, and classical dance.
